
The UNUM Long Term Disability policy automatically covers the following individuals after three months of continuous active employment:
- Members of the University Health Professional (UHP) Bargaining Unit who:
- Are employed at least 50% time; and
- Are members of the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP), the State Employees Retirement System (SERS), the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), or the SERS Hybrid Plan in active employment
- Members of the UCHC-AAUP Faculty (AAUP) Bargaining Unit and Non-Represented Faculty Members who:
- Are employed at least 50% time; and
- Were hired or re-hired prior to 1/1/17 and are members of the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP), the State Employees Retirement System (SERS), the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), or the SERS Hybrid Plan in active employment; or
- Were hired or rehired on or after 1/1/17 and are members of the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP) in active employment
- Are employed at least 50% time; and
- Managerial/Confidential Exclusion Employees and Resident Physicians/Dentists who:
- Are employed at least 50% time; and
- Were hired or re-hired prior to 11/1/11 and are members of the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP), the State Employees Retirement System (SERS), the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), or the SERS Hybrid Plan in active employment; or
- Were hired or rehired on or after 11/1/11 and are members of the Alternate Retirement Plan (ARP) in active employment
- Are employed at least 50% time; and
The plan pays eligible employees 60% of their base salary up to $8,000 monthly maximum if they are disabled beyond 180 days.
