Ophthalmology in plain sight for Ezii

Ezigbobiara Umejiego (fondly known as Ezii) from the UConn School of Medicine took a gap year to earn his master’s in public health. Aspiring to become an Ophthalmologist, Ezii combined his studies with research in the Mohan lab in the neuroscience department to investigate mechanisms of ocular injury from chemical warfare agents. His notable contribution developing an ocular model of nitrogen mustard injury and illuminating a novel mechanism has been submitted to a leading vision research journal. We celebrate Ezii’s recent success in attaining his dream of going into Ophthalmology residency and wish him the very best in advancing his career.
