Mary Katherine Eddy: Awarded the title of University Scholar

Mary Katherine Eddy, a junior at the University of Connecticut, has been awarded the title of University Scholar to conduct research in the Mohan Lab. This distinction is the highest academic honor bestowed upon an undergraduate at graduation and recognizes exceptional achievement in research, leadership, and scholarly contributions. Mary Katherine is also an Army Cadet in the ROTC program at UConn. She states, “I am very honored to have been selected as a University Scholar for my project, ‘Unwrapping the Mystery of Corneal Myelination.’ This program allows me to further develop my research in the Mohan Lab by studying the behavior and regenerative processes of Schwann cells in the cornea, while gaining invaluable experience toward my career in medicine. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and for the continued support of Drs. Mohan and Bargagna-Mohan.” Research in the Mohan Lab is supported in part by the John A. and Florence Mattern Solomon endowed chair, the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation and NIH grant R21EY032741.
