For the MS in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience at UConn Health, students must register for a minimum of six (6) credits per semester and complete a total of 30 credits to complete their course of study for graduation. For Track A students completing a thesis-based MS, they will complete 21 credits must be courses and 9 credits of research. Track B MS students will complete 30 credits of courses which shall include X number of courses in the area of study (i.e. Neuroscience).

 

We recognize that each student is unique and their interests can vary widely, hence it is possible and likely to develop a personalized course of study in consultation with program leadership and your advisory committee.

 

Summary Timetable 

Courses	MS Students: total of 30 credits that include required courses plus research and electives.
Journal Club	Participation required in all years
Neuroscience Seminars	Regular attendance expected in all years.
Thesis Supervisor	Selected during first semester.
Advisory Committee Members	Selected according to each student’s thesis research during their first semester.
Plan of Study	For Track A MS students: approved by advisory committee and filed before end of first year.
Private Thesis Defense	Track A MS students shall submit completed dissertation to their Thesis Advisory Committee for the oral defense of their thesis
