We accept visiting students enrolled in U.S. (LCME-approved) medical and osteopathic schools (AOA-approved). Students must apply through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO), to receive visiting student applications.

Q. Does the UConn School of Medicine accept international students or U.S. students attending international schools?

A. No, we do not accept international students or U.S. students attending international schools for rotations at this time.

Q. My school has different period/block dates from the UConn School of Medicine. Can I change the dates of my elective to match those at my home school?

A. No, we are not able to accommodate students outside of the dates provided in VSLO. All of our electives begin and end on the dates offered. We are not able to have students starting or ending in the middle of a block.

Q. How can I find out more information about an elective?

A. Please review the elective description for the electives offered in VSLO.

Q. How can I find out if there is space available in a particular elective for a particular month?

A. We are not able to provide up to date information on a regular basis regarding openings in electives. Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by the department. Each rotation is dependent on availability. If selected for a rotation, you will be notified through VSLO.

Q. Do you offer shadowing experiences for undergraduate students?

A. The office of Clinical Education does not facilitate shadowing experiences, nor does the specific department you are looking to shadow. Please refer to the UConn Health Human Resources website for information on shadowing and unpaid experiences.
