NEW EMPLOYEE PAYROLL TAX BEGINNING JANUARY 1, 2021
Beginning January 1, 2021, there is a new mandatory payroll deduction of one-half of one percent (.5%) of gross pay (which equates to $5.00 on every $1,000 earned). This tax is a result of the State of Connecticut enacting the Paid Family Medical Leave Act (CT PFMLA) which creates a comprehensive paid family and medical leave insurance program in the state. Your employer, while you are part of the UConn School of Medicine Residency Program, is the Capital Area Health Consortium (CAHC). We are located in The Exchange directly across from the Farmington Avenue entrance to UConn Health. The Capital Area Health Consortium is a non-profit organized under 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code.
