Residents will complete dedicated rotations in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at both UConn Health as well as Hartford Hospital. Their experiences will include both outpatient ultrasound and perinatal consultations as well as inpatient high risk care. With both institutions receiving a large number of regional transports and referrals, residents are exposed to a large variety of diagnosis and procedures.
The division members are actively engaged in patient-oriented research in areas of maternal-fetal medicine pertaining to prenatal diagnosis, obstetrical ultrasound, HIV infection during pregnancy, and clinical obstetrics. Daily rounds involve any rotating medical students, residents, a fellow and an attending. Placental pathology conference and neonatology conferences occur on regular basis.
