12-15-21. Congratulations to Pedro Mendes on a new publication, Understanding Lactobacillus paracasei
and Streptococcus oralis biofilm interactions through agent-based modeling, published in mSphere 6:e0087521. Along with other UConn Health investigators, they studied the interactions between two bacterial species that form biofilms in the oral cavity. The research combined experiments and agent-based simulations to understand the mechanism of interaction.

Loew Publication
9-03-21. Congratulations to Les Loew on his paper, “Fast Optical Investigation of Cardiac Electrophysiology by Parallel Detection in Multiwell Plates,” published in Frontiers in Physiology. In the paper they discuss MULTIPLE, a cost-effective optical approach for studying cardiac electrophysiology.
Cowan and Loew Publication
12-03-21. Ann Cowan and Les Loew are authors on another paper with the Carlier lab. This paper was published in The Biophysicist, Teaching Mathematical Modeling of Cellular Systems with the VCell MathModel, 2021 Dec 3. Congratulations on this paper and their continued collaborative work.
Acker Publication
11-18-21. A new review co-authored by Corey Acker is published in Frontiers in Physiology: Cardiac Electrophysiology (https://doi.org/10.3389/fphys.2021.769586). The review highlights optical methods for cardiac research presented at the first NOtiCE (novel optics-based approaches for cardiac electrophysiology) meeting in Florence, Italy in Sept. 2018 where Corey was an invited speaker. Congratulations Corey!
Mattada Publication
11-24-21. Congratulations to Sathyan on his co-author publication in The EMBO Journal, UBR7 acts as a histone chaperone for post-nucleosomal histone H3 . In the paper they identified UBR7 as a histone chaperone specifically for pre-existing histone H3. The result suggests that UBR7 may be acting as a chaperone that maintains epigenetic memory during transcription and replication.
