Application Process

All applications are processed through ERAS. We begin reviewing applications as soon as they are released to the program. All applications should include: a completed ERAS form, MSPE, medical school transcript, personal statement, and three Letters of Recommendation. The internal medicine residency does a holistic review of applications but at a minimum the candidates eligible for selection for interview will have the following:

  • USMLE/COMLEX Parts 1 and 2; passed on first attempt
  • Medical school graduation (including required internship) should be within five years of residency application.
  • Valid ECFMG certificate for graduates of international medical schools.
  • United States, Canada or United Kingdom clinical experience is desirable but not required for consideration.

Application deadline is December 1. Interviews are by invitation only. Selected candidates will be invited through ERAS and eligible to schedule their interview through the ERAS scheduler.

All applicants applying to the UConn Internal Medicine Residency Program are required to complete Acuity Insights Assessments for the 2023/2024 admissions cycle. This is an integral part of our holistic review process. The last date to complete the test is October 5, 2023.

Acuity Insights Assessments is a standardized, multi-part online assessment that measures different competencies and attributes that we believe are important for successful students and graduates of our program. The assessments will complement the other tools that we use for applicant review and evaluation. In implementing Acuity Insights Assessments, we are trying to further enhance fairness and objectivity in our selection process.

Acuity Insights Assessments consists of:

  • Casper: 90-110 minute online, open-response situational judgment test
  • Duet: 15-minute value-alignment assessment

You will register for the assessments for CSP-20101 – U.S. Graduate Medical Education – Residency Training. Access AcuityInsights.app to create an account and for more information on important dates and requirements.

All interviews will be conducted virtually during the upcoming recruitment season. Interview information will be provided to invited candidates. All candidates will have the opportunity to speak with our residents outside of the formal interview day during a virtual happy hour.

Our program does not discriminate with respect to gender, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or any other applicable legally protected status.

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment in all respects and for all learners.

Please note the University of Connecticut only sponsors J-1 visas for candidates who are not permanent residents.
