Login Issues

For External (non-UConn Health) Users, please make sure you are using the correct username and password – as your development and production credentials may differ. Please see additional troubleshooting remedies 1-5 below. If you still have login issues, please contact us at redcap@uchc.edu and let us know which account you need to reset (development or production). Once we have processed your request, you will receive an email with your username and link to reset your password. As a reminder your password is automatically reset every 90 days for security purposes. If you have not logged into your account in over 180 days, then your account is automatically suspended – you will receive notification via email when this occurs. If you need your account unsuspended, please contact us. For non-UConn (University of Connecticut) users, please have your sponsor (UConn/UCH PI) request reactivation.

For UConn Health Users, your REDCap login (username and password) is the same as your institutional login and cannot be reset by us. Please see all of the troubleshooting remedies below:

    1. If you have attempted to log in 3 times incorrectly then your account will be temporarily locked, and you will need to wait 5 mins to try again.
    2. If you are logging in from outside the UConn Health network, then please be sure you have the DUO 2FA set on your phone and that you can respond to the push notification. For assistance with DUO, please contact the UCH IT service desk at (860) 679-4400.
    3. If you recently created your REDCap account, and have not logged into REDCap before, please make sure you have fully activated it – the verification link sent to your email must be confirmed before you can log in.
    4. Make sure you are not copying and pasting your credentials into the REDCap login boxes.  Your user ID and password must be typed in.
    5. Your network credentials are case-sensitive. Check the basics such as cap lock or number lock issues.
    6. If you recently changed your UConn Health password, please try rebooting your personal computer before logging into REDCap.
    7. Ensure that your UConn Health password has not expired (you can test this by rebooting your personal computer).
    8. If none of the above have worked then please try to log in to another UCH online service that uses your same network credentials, such as outlook.office.com or itowa.uchc.edu. If you are unable to log into any of those websites, then that may mean your account is permanently locked or your password has expired. In this case, you will need to contact the UCH IT service desk at (860) 679-4400.
    9. If none of the above work, then you will have to contact the UCH IT service desk at (860) 679-4400 and ask that your institutional password be reset.

FYI: The REDCap password reset link is only for non-UConn Health users who set up a security question when they activated their account. Non-UCH users who did not set up a security question must contact us directly at redcap@uchc.edu to have their password reset. UCH users please see steps above.
