How important is research for applying to your program?

Internally, when we screen applications, we use a broad concept of academic potential. We seek candidates who have the potential to be academic cardiologists if they so decide. Prior research is not an absolute criterion for selection to be interviewed, but it’s the surest way to display one’s academic potential.
