Curriculum Overview

  • The program exposes the fellow to the full range of clinical and professional skill development experiences requisite to jumpstarting a successful and meaningful career in pediatric hospital medicine.
  • Blocks are interspersed throughout the two years of fellowship to ensure ongoing clinical and professional skill development and proper pacing of research and scholarly projects.
    • Fellows have 8 blocks of dedicated clinical care core rotations in tertiary care and community-based inpatient pediatrics, newborn care, co-management, palliative care, pain management and procedural sedation.
    • An additional 8 blocks serve as opportunities for fellows to individualize their experience, with opportunities for advanced clinical rotations and non-clinical professional skill development in topics such as medical education, quality and fety, heathcare administration, advocacy, and informatics.
    • The remaining 8 blocks are protected research time, in which fellows pursue the development, implementation, and diseminastion of original scholarly projects under the mentorship and guidance of PHM and content-expert faculty.
