Welcome from the Program Director

Welcome to the Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program.

The ACGME accredited Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship will provide a comprehensive experience in all clinical areas with the subspecialty and additionally provide research and educational opportunities. Our goal is to produce the next generation of pediatric cardiologists prepared to with the expertise for all aspects of clinical practice and clinical or basic research. The fellowship provides an integrated in depth exposure to all clinical areas of pediatric cardiology including congenital heart disease, echocardiograph, cardiac intensive care, cardiac catheterization, ACHD, electrophysiology and heart failure transplant. Mentored research and quality improvement training will be instituted from the early stages of training.

Fellows primarily spend their time at Connecticut Children’s which is the only free standing children’s hospital in the state of Connecticut, and serves as the home of the UConn Department of Pediatrics. Connecticut Children’s is a 187 bed facility designated Level 1 Trauma Center, which includes a CICU, PICU and NICU, all of which provide extensive clinical exposure to our learners. It hosts a Pediatric Residency Program with 60 residents and three chief residents, and seven other pediatric medical and surgical fellowship programs.

The Connecticut Children’s Division of Pediatric Cardiology is composed of a highly skilled and collaborative team of physician faculty, advanced practice providers, and experienced nursing staff dedicated to delivering exceptional cardiovascular care. The Division is further supported by a comprehensive network of pediatric subspecialists across Connecticut Children’s. Among these are congenital cardiac surgeons who are fully integrated into the Children’s Heart Center, working in close partnership with cardiology and multidisciplinary teams to provide seamless, high-quality care for patients and families.
