The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at UConn Health and affiliated hospitals offers an accredited fellowship program for individuals wishing to prepare for a career in infectious diseases. It provides a flexible two-year training program encompassing both clinical and research aspects of infectious diseases. The ongoing diverse educational activities of the division ensure exposure to all aspects of infectious diseases.
While the emphasis of the program is on an understanding of the pathogenesis of infectious diseases and host-defense mechanisms, there is sufficient latitude and flexibility to encompass individual preferences. A combined graduate program toward a Master of Public Health degree is available. In addition to training with members of the faculty, opportunities exist for training in the basic science laboratories of the Division of Microbial Pathogenesis or the Department of Molecular Microbial and Structural Biology.
