Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Since 1986 the UConn Geriatric Medicine Fellowship has trained internal medicine and family medicine graduates for leadership careers in geriatric medicine. The Center on Aging faculty includes 2 family medicine physicians certified in Geriatrics. One or two-year fellowship tracks are available. A second year of training allows candidates to focus on tracks in administration, teaching, research, or quality improvement and achieve C.M.D., M.P.H., or other qualifications.

An experiential leadership skills course trains fellows in clinical program development, administration, teaching, or research supported by a $30 million aging research portfolio at the Center on Aging. Applicants may consider applying for a M.P.H. or M.Sc. in Clinical Research while completing their Geriatric Medicine fellowship.

Past surveys of practicing physicians demonstrate that geriatricians are first or second in satisfaction with their careers versus all other specialties.
