Well-Being

As part of the larger UConn School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education, UConn's Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program is dedicated to nurturing wellness. We value a healthy work-life balance as a key to wellness. We check with our fellows regularly to see how they feel about their workload, availability of resources, and fulfillment and satisfaction with their daily routine at work. Fellows get 1 hour weekly to process their work life with each other (fellows group processing time). Fellows have, on average, half a day a week as elective time that can be used for self-study. We provide a supportive, compassionate, and enriching environment for all, with plenty of opportunities for self-care and self-advocacy.

We have incorporated many wellness activities throughout the academic year that are not just events but opportunities to build a sense of community and belonging. They include an annual welcome picnic with their families, a Thanksgiving outpatient potluck lunch, the yearly departmental and child division holiday celebration, a Connecticut-wide Psychiatry Residents/Fellows Day, 3-4 wellness half days per year,

We emphasize our unwavering commitment to fellows' well-being during their training and throughout the academic year. We are dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment that prioritizes wellness and growth.

UConn School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education is committed to supporting the well-being of all our residents and fellows during their training.
