Well-Being

Wellness 2022

Mission Statement

Our program strives to promote the well-being of, and work-life balance for, our residents.

Work hours and work day responsibilities are designed to be reasonable; teaching is prioritized; and the program provides the opportunity to learn and grow both at work and outside of work; unique learning opportunities are sought for the residents.

We have created a supportive and inclusive department in which residents can thrive, personally and professionally.

Well-being benefits include three workday holidays each academic year, each with a small stipend, for the residents to spend as they choose. Benefits have included beach days, hiking, movies and meals out.

The department hosts resident and faculty dinner meetings and retreats at which resident suggestions and feedback are solicited.

We host awards and graduation dinners in lovely settings to celebrate and acknowledge our residents' efforts and accomplishments.

We want our residents to look back with pride on the program in which they have served.

UConn School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education is committed to supporting the well-being of all our residents and fellows during their training program.
