Weekly Schedule Template

  • Mondays: Inpatient Rounds, Operating Room
  • Tuesdays: Education in Morning; Clinic in afternoon
  • Wednesdays: Inpatient Rounds in Morning; Operating Room, Administrative Time in afternoon
  • Thursdays: Inpatient Rounds, Operating Room
  • Fridays: Inpatient Rounds; Operating Room

Sign-out of patients in the afternoon usually occur at 4 p.m. and occurs with attendings and team

Rotation: NICU

The NICU rotation will occur in the first year of fellowship (PGY-7). Optimally, the fellow will rotate within the first 6 months of fellowship for several reasons:

  1. To introduce the fellow to the concepts of critical illness in neonates and children
  2. Lay the foundation for understanding the physiology of the newborn and child
  3. Enable the fellow to develop critical relationships with key support staff in both of the intensive care units

Rotation: PICU

The PICU rotation will occur in the first year of fellowship (PGY-7). The fellow, in coordination with pediatric intensivists will care for critically ill children. The objective is for the fellow to gain knowledge of care of children with critical illness which includes fluid and hemodynamic management and ventilator management.
