The Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center proudly partners with the UConn Center on Aging to provide complete care for older patients with cancer.

Geriatric patients have a unique set of needs that require specialized care. For example, they may not be able to tolerate some of the most common cancer treatments, they may have underlying health issues, or they may be taking other medications that could interact with medications for the treatment of cancer. Our geriatric oncology experts are acutely aware of these differences, and they offer patient and thorough care to their patients. Our practitioners are deeply committed to helping older cancer patients preserve strength and stamina and are sensitive to numerous other quality of life issues.

Emphasis is placed on educating patients, their families, and the community, and they also conduct research initiatives that contribute to the prevention and treatment of cancer in the aging population.
