Personal Information

Dr. Nicole Jackson obtained her undergraduate degree in Anthropology from Yale University, her medical school degree from Harvard Medical School, and completed her residency at Boston Medical Center. After residency, she stayed on at Boston Medical Center as faculty in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Jackson has five years of experience working as a full-spectrum primary care and urgent care provider at a federally-qualified health center in Dorchester, MA, serving medically and socially complex patients in a predominantly low-income, ethnically and linguistically diverse neighborhood. She also has experience doing postpartum, newborn nursery and general pediatrics rounding at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Jackson has a special interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and anti-racism work and serves as the Director of Diversity Programs in the Department of Family Medicine at Boston Medical Center.

In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music, dancing, worshipping at her church, self-directed learning, spending time with family and catching up with her four god-children.

Personal Information

Dr. Nathan Lemay grew up in rural Massachusetts and always wanted to become a physician. He attended Connecticut College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemistry, Cellular and Molecular Biology. Prior to his medical training, he worked as a research assistant at UMass Medical School conducting biochemical research on ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and worked as an EMT in the greater Boston area. Dr. Lemay attended medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He received his family medicine residency training from the ECHN Family Medicine Residency, serving as chief resident and graduating in 2020. After graduating, he pursued a career in hospitalist medicine and worked for Sound Physicians at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Rockville General Hospital. While working as a hospitalist he remained connected to medical education training by becoming a faculty member and inpatient medicine director for the ECHN Family Medicine Residency. In 2025, Dr. Lemay was hired to be the Program Director of the ECHN Family Medicine Residency, now called the UConn Family Medicine Residency at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Dr. Lemay also serves as a board member for the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Lemay and his wife Sarah have one son, Declan, who tries to keep them as busy as possible. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, golfing, hiking, reading, traveling, and attending concerts and theater performances.

Personal Information

Dr. Remi Mathews began her studies at the PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Coimbatore, India before coming to the U.S. to complete her residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington in 2004. After her residency she spent time as a Research Associate at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.

In 2007 Dr. Mathews joined Manchester Memorial Hospital as a Primary Care Physician. She also spent time working in Wound Care and Hyperbaric treatment at Manchester Memorial Hospital. In 2013 Dr. Mathews became an Assistant Clinical Professor of Family Medicine in the Manchester Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency before becoming the Medical Director of Manchester Memorial Hospital’s Family Health Care Center.

Dr. Mathews is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, as well as the Connecticut Osteopathic Medical Society. She has also dedicated her time as a Volunteer Physician at Manchester Community College.

Personal Information

Born and raised in Bristol, Connecticut, Dr. Sassu earned his undergraduate degree from Hofstra University. He went on to complete both his MD and MBA at the University of Connecticut, followed by residency training at the ECHN Family Medicine Residency, where he served as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Sassu has a particular passion for palliative and hospice medicine, ensuring patients receive compassionate, dignified care at every stage of life. He currently serves as the Medical Director for the Inpatient Palliative and Hospice Medicine Department at Manchester Memorial Hospital and works as a primary care provider for Hartford Healthcare in Manchester, CT. He treats patients of all ages and backgrounds, managing the full spectrum of primary care — from preventive health and chronic disease management to acute illness and minor injuries. He also works as core faculty at his alma-mater, the UConn Family Medicine Residency Program at Manchester Memorial Hospital, where he helps train the next generation of family physicians. His academic interests focus on expanding resident comfort with end-of-life care and point of care ultrasound utilization. Outside of medicine, Dr. Sassu maintains a healthy lifestyle balancing his work and interests, including gardening and spending quality time with friends and family. He also remains actively involved in the local wrestling community, volunteering with his hometown programs to mentor and train youth in folkstyle wrestling.

Personal Information

Dr. Tang received her MS in Nutrition from Columbia University and her MD from St. George's University. She completed her residency training in Family Medicine at BronxCare Health System, affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She also served as a research scholar in the Cardiology Department at Duke University and Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University.

After completing her residency training, she worked in hospital medicine for nearly four years before joining Manchester Memorial Hospital.

She continues to participate in various research projects in collaboration with professors from Biomedical Informatics at Yale University.

Dr. Tang is passionate about learning, teaching, integrative medicine, and exploring the use of artificial intelligence in the medical field.

Personal Information

Dr Alexandra Zacchera began her medical career working as an EMT and helping teach EMT courses while obtaining her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut.  She attended medical school at University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and spent a summer in the anatomy lab dissecting the nervous system.  She then completed her residency right here, at what was previously called the ECHN Family Medicine Residency, graduating in 2019.  She chose to pursue a career in hospital medicine, staying at Manchester Memorial Hospital as a hospitalist once she graduated and worked there through the COVID pandemic.  In 2024 she was promoted to be the Medical Director for the Hospitalist service.  She is also the chair of several hospital committees and serves on the Medical Executive Committee. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, 3 children, and 2 dogs (huskies).  She also enjoys crocheting.
