The Connecticut Children’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee is comprised of residents, fellows, attending faculty and hospital staff who are focused on expanding the diversity and inclusion within the Pediatric Training Programs to include participants from groups underrepresented in medicine (URM), and to become more representative of the populations we serve. In doing so, we hope to increase interest of URM applicants to our fellowship program, create an environment where URM fellows feel supported and provide our patients with physician role-models.
Faculty development is provided the Department of Pediatrics to address bias and identify barriers to opportunity and inclusion, recent events have included:
- Pediatric Residency Professionalism Series (in which PEM Faculty participate) include event on "Macro Skills for Microaggressions: Tools for Understanding Microaggressions and How to Respond"
- Annual Connecticut Children's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Symposium
- Pediatric Grand Rounds Series (attended by PEM Faculty and fellows) included multiple relevant events this academic year including:
