Application Requirements

The Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency Program at UConn Health participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Applicants interested in our program should apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the University of Connecticut School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education Office, and Connecticut state regulations.

Applicants must:

  • Possess an MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Be eligible for appointment to a UConn Health residency program.
  • Apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
  • Participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
  • Have successfully completed USMLE or COMLEX examinations as required by institutional policies.
  • Demonstrate academic achievement, professionalism, strong communication skills, and commitment to pathology.
  • Must possess a valid ECFMG certificate prior to the start of residency training, if international medical graduate (IMG).
  • Must meet all resident appointment and employment requirements established by UConn Health and Graduate Medical Education.

Applications are reviewed holistically, with consideration given to academic performance, letters of recommendation, personal attributes, research and scholarly activities, and demonstrated interest in pathology.
