The UConn-Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program has an active Wellness Committee made up of our Program Director, Program Coordinator, faculty, and representatives from each of our 3 PGY3 classes. We work to ensure wellness in our working environment and remember the meaning of our work. We provide opportunities for togetherness inside and outside of the hospital. And we work to maintain engagement in serving the Waterbury community.
Wellness events and programs are organized throughout the year. These include:
- Welcome reception for all new interns as well as all residents and faculty at the home of our Department of Medicine Chair
- Peer mentorship program
- Self-reflection noon conferences
- Annual Fall Intern retreat
- Annual transition to PGY2 resident retreat
- Fall Apple Orchard
- Evening painting classes
- International potluck dinner
- December holiday luncheon and ugly sweater contest
- Book Club
- House staff appreciation week
