Emergency Medicine Critical Care (EMCC) Track

Welcome to the UConn Emergency Medicine Critical Care (EMCC) Track of the Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.

This two-year comprehensive and interdisciplinary program is designed to train the next generation of Emergency Medicine–trained intensivists and critical care leaders.

The first year of the EMCC Fellowship is ACGME-accredited and based in the Department of Anesthesiology, with clinical rotations at:

  • UConn Health – John Dempsey Hospital
  • Hartford Hospital
  • The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC)

The second year is a non-ACGME fellowship sponsored by the Department of Emergency Medicine, with clinical rotations at:

  • Hartford Hospital
  • The Hospital of Central Connecticut (HOCC)

Throughout both years, fellows train alongside colleagues in other critical care disciplines—including Anesthesiology, Surgical, and Pulmonary Critical Care—within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment that fosters clinical excellence and academic growth.

Upon successful completion of the two-year program, Emergency Medicine graduates are eligible for board certification in Critical Care Medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
