Interviews are by invitation only. Once the application has been reviewed, selected candidates will be invited by letter via email and will be asked to call to schedule an interview date.

- Full one page official USMLE Transcript showing ALL - Step 1, Step 2 CK, Step 2 CS and Step 3 with no failures (MUST PASS ALL ON FIRST ATTEMPT). Only a full page transcript showing all steps will be accepted. Do not send individual sheets for each exam.
- U.S. citizens, U.S. residents and J-1 visas.
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation for the Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship match.
The UConn School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education Program does not process applications of individuals who are H1B visa holders.

No. UConn Health only sponsors J-1 visas.

Our deadline is September 1 of the current year.
3. Is there a cut off of USMLE scores?
It’s unlikely we’ll consider applicants with scores under 200. You must also pass ALL USMLE steps on first attempt.
4. Do you need to take the USMLE Step 3 exam before applying?
Yes.
5. How important is research for applying to your program?
Internally, when we screen applications, we use a broad concept of academic potential. We seek candidates who have the potential to be academic dermatologists if they so decide. Prior research is not an absolute criterion for selection to be interviewed, but it’s the surest way to display one’s academic potential.
6. How many applicants do you accept yearly?
We accept one applicant every year.
7. How many applications do you receive yearly?
We receive approximately 70 applications.
8. When do you start reviewing applications?
Application reviewing begins June 1 of the current year.
9. When do you start the interviewing process?
The interviews take place in the months of September and October. For interviews, we contact the applicants via phone or email.
10. How many applicants do you interview?
We interview around 10 applicants.
