Internal Medicine Chief Resident

Dr. Naresh Kumar completed his medical degree at Jinnah Sindh Medical University in Pakistan and went on to pursue his Internal Medicine residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center, where he was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Teaching at graduation. He is currently serving as Chief Resident at Waterbury Hospital with the UConn-Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program. His academic interests include medical education and inpatient medicine. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, watching Netflix, and playing pickleball.

Ibrahim Mohammed, MD

Internal Medicine Chief Resident

Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed graduated from Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar in 2022. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, where he was recognized with the Albany Medical Center House Staff Scholarly Research Prize and the Underrepresented Students Alliance Mentorship Award in 2023. In 2025, he was appointed Chief Resident at the Waterbury Internal Medicine Residency Program. During his residency training, Dr. Mohammed demonstrated exceptional commitment to medical education and research. He led outpatient curriculum development, served as a Point-of-Care Ultrasound educator, and mentored medical students from underrepresented backgrounds through the Underrepresented Students Alliance Mentorship program. His research interests focus on gastroenterology, particularly COVID-19 gastrointestinal sequelae and quality improvement initiatives. He has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national conferences including the American College of Gastroenterology Annual Meeting and Digestive Disease Week. Dr. Mohammed is an active member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians. As Chief Resident, he is passionate about advocating for medical education, mentoring residents, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the program. In his free time, Dr. Mohammed enjoys daily running and experimenting with recipes from different cuisines.
