Our fellowship is an ACGME-accredited, one year immersion in Forensic Pathology at the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner Medical Examiner in conjunction with the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. The fellowship is open to applicants who will have completed a 3 or 4 year Anatomic or Anatomic/Clinical Pathology Residency prior to matriculation. Our program has two fellowship spots that are filled annually. We currently have one position available beginning July 2025 and two available beginning July 2026.
The State of Connecticut OCME is located on the UConn Health campus. The Connecticut OCME is a National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) accredited, free-standing, modern facility that is located in historic Farmington Connecticut. The OCME is a centralized, state-wide medical examiner system with an autopsy volume of approximately 2,900 per year which includes approximately 150 homicides, 400 suicides, and 2,100 accidents. Full-time medicolegal death investigators work 24/7 to investigate reported deaths and attend scenes.
Program Aims
The Forensic Pathology Fellowship Program at the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner aims to recruit and train fellows with an interest in medicolegal death investigation and to provide a solid foundation in forensic pathology to allow them to function competently and independently as board-certified forensic pathologists.
