Program Description

INTEGRATED (0+5)

The new (0+5) Vascular Surgery Integrated program at UConn Health provides students with opportunities for diverse training experiences dedicated specifically to becoming skilled vascular surgeons. Requiring 18 months of core surgical education experience, 30 months of documented vascular surgery experience in addition to 12 months of documented vascular and/or core related rotations that may include a maximum of 6 months of research time. Vascular rotations at UConn Health in addition to the secondary sites of rotations, represent ample opportunities to allow for fulfillment of all the mentioned prerequisites. Our program is dedicated to the mission of education, by recruiting and training the next generation of top Vascular Surgeons. Our first Vascular Resident was recruited outside the match and will be starting this July 2023.

VASCULAR PROGRAMS

The University of Connecticut aims to recruit and train expert residents and fellows in all facets of Vascular surgery, endovascular therapy, and vascular imaging. Residents and Fellows must have the ability to adapt to numerous patient care and educational settings including at high-volume institutions.

At the core of each of each program is ongoing support of provider well-being and professionalism. Each program places a large emphasis not only on safety and exceptional clinical training, but also teaching residents and fellows to be outstanding educators. Ultimately, each program aims to expose residents and fellows to a diverse inpatient, clinical, and research opportunities allowing them the chance to explore various career opportunities including general practice, fellowship, and academic medicine.
