Pediatric Pulmonary Didactic Sessions - Monthly, Every 4th Tuesday, 1:00 - 3:00 PM, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center - This conference is attended by all attending physicians, residents and fellows, unless away on vacation. The purpose of this conference is to provide a review of physiology and a more comprehensive review of various diseases. It is led by the leader of the discussion (either a faculty member or fellow).

Journal Club, Monthly, every other 1st Wednesday, 9:00 - 10:00 AM, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center - Each conference is led by a fellow and a supervisory pulmonary attending. The fellow and attending will choose and distribute the article for discussion. This conference is for fellows, residents or medical students (on pulmonary elective) and attending physicians. A schedule is distributed at the beginning of each academic year.

Topic Review Meeting - Monthly, every 4th Tuesday, 3:00 - 4:00 PM (alternates with Research meeting), Connecticut Children’s Medical Center – This conference is attended by all attending physicians, residents and fellows unless away on vacation. The purpose of this conference is to discuss various topics relating to Pulmonology. Presentations are given by residents, pulmonology attendings, fellows, and personnel from other specialties, etc.

Pediatrics Grand Rounds - Weekly, Tuesdays, 8:00 - 9:00 AM, Conklin Building at Hartford Hospital - This conference is attended by the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Staff, House Staff, Advance Practice RNs, Community Pediatricians, Physician Assistants, Residents and Fellows. Topics change as to inform attendees of new developments in various areas of health care for children.

Resident Case Management - Weekly, Thursdays, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center - Faculty members, residents and fellows are expected to attend. This conference is for group discussion as a department of cases seen the previous week, with focus on diagnoses and recommendations for care plans.

Pediatric Morbidity and Mortality Conference - Quarterly, Thursday, 12:00 - 1:00 PM, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center - All residents, fellows and faculty members are invited to attend. Typically, two or three cases are presented by the residents. The patient’s history, physical examination, diagnostic work up and management is reviewed. This conference is led by Dr. Adam Silverman and the attending physician in charge of the case being discussed. The fellow is expected to attend at least once per year.

Pediatric Pulmonary Pathology/Radiology- Every 6 months, 4th Tuesday, 4:00 - 5:00 PM, Zoom - Faculty members, residents and fellows are expected to attend, unless away on vacation. The purpose of this conference is to discuss interesting recent or previous lung biopsies; we also review histopathology of specific lung diseases such as TB, CF and interstitial lung diseases to name some. CT scans and imaging findings are reviewed with a specialized pediatric radiologist for the other session. The fellow is expected to attend at least two times per year.

Others: Once a year, there is a combined multidisciplinary conference. The fellow will be informed of the topic as well as the date and time by the Program Director.

The fellows are expected to lead the Weekly Clinical Conference when on inpatient service.
