Program Overview

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Connecticut Children’s provides world class care to infants, children, teens, and young adults with a broad range of endocrine conditions, as well as caring for those with Type 1, Type 2, and atypical forms of diabetes.

The Diabetes Program for Children and Families is an AADE-accredited program, supported by experienced physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, registered dieticians, certified diabetes educators, and social workers. Our transition program for young adults, as well as multiple support programs, provides a medical home for patients and their families through early adulthood. Dr. Nancy Dunbar has a collaborative relationship with the Pediatric Diabetes Program at Hôpital Sacré Coeur in Milot, Haiti. There are opportunities for interested fellows in participate in experiences through the Center for Global Health at Connecticut Children’s. We have also hosted the only day camp in the state of CT, specifically geared towards children and teens with Type 1 and 2 diabetes. Fellows will participate as part of the medical team during this week-long experience. Fellows also have a monthly diabetes continuity clinic of their own, during which they work closely with one of our certified diabetes educators to learn state-of-art diabetes care, including the latest diabetes technology.

The division houses multiple subspecialty programs including our Center for Rare Bone Disorders, including the Albright Center and Osteogenesis Imperfecta Center led by internationally renowned pediatric endocrinologist and researcher Dr. Emily Germain-Lee, the Kids’ Center for Bone Health, a comprehensive Gender Program, Turner Syndrome clinic, and Lipid Disorders Clinic.
