2023-2024 Block Schedule

ROTATION: PEDIATRIC PATHOLOGY/HEMATOLOGY

The pathology/hematology rotation is designed to develop competence with evaluation of peripheral blood smears and bone marrow aspirates provide clinical experience in the diagnosis and management of the diverse range of childhood blood disorders and malignancies in a higher acuity context. The rotation is closely supervised by the pediatric hematology/oncology attending who provides the trainee with didactic and informal educational experiences.

Fellows are expected to participate (under attending physician supervision) in the care of hospitalized patients with a broad variety of pediatric neoplastic processes (including acute leukemias, solid tumors, or central nervous system neoplasms) and hematological disorders (including sickle cell anemia, hemophilia, Langerhans cell histiocytosis, bone marrow failure syndromes).
