Conferences and Schedules

Conferences

The didactic portion of your urology education occurs on Thursday mornings. We hold Grand Rounds from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. that is followed by a resident seminar session from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Grand Rounds include visiting speakers, case presentations, periodic interdisciplinary tumor board and the monthly morbidity and mortality report. The resident seminar session is a tutorial with one of the faculty that focuses on a specific urology topic each week. The summer months are devoted to in depth training in radiology and pathology. Finally, a Journal Club is held once a month to discuss urology literature and other educational issues.

Research

Several faculty conduct a number of NIH-funded projects with the Division of Urology. Urology residents devote 2 1/2 days per week in their PGY4 year to research and often participate in these projects. Depending upon their career interests, residents usually collaborate with one or two faculty members on various projects. Residents often present their work at the annual meeting of the New England Section of the American Urological Association and the national meeting of the AUA. The residency program funds the travel expenses associated with these meetings.
