Core Components

A goal of the HDT is to provide not only a meaningful curricular experience, but one a busy resident and fellow can meaningfully participate in. Excluding the 6-month retreats, the average workload for each resident and fellow should be estimated to be 5-10 hours/month depending on the depth of their capstone project.

Below is a summary of the core components of the track.

  • Curriculum: 12 Session every other month for 2-years
  • Volunteerism: 15 hours over 2 years
  • Capstone: Longitudinal project with mentor support
  • 6- Month Community Retreats
    • FQHC
    • Community Legal Aide/State Capitol Visit
    • Community Health Organization
    • Department Public Health
  • Mentorship: Track faculty + project-specific
