Position

One position is offered on a competitive basis each year in the Thoracic Surgery Fellowship Program at UConn Health.

How to Apply

Step 1

You first must submit an electronic application via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

The academic year begins in August.

A complete application includes the following:

  • Completed application
  • Dean’s letter, medical school transcript, and diploma
  • Three or Four current letters of recommendation (required one from the program director, one from a cardiac surgeon, and one from a thoracic surgeon)
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Official test transcripts for all applicable examinations (USMLE Step 1, 2, 3 or COMLEX scores)
  • ECFMG certificate (if you graduated from medical school outside the USA)
  • ABSITE scores (from the American Board of Surgery)
  • Personal statement
  • J-1 visa is the only non-immigrant visa accepted by the UConn School of Medicine graduate medical education program

Step 2

Appointments are made through the Thoracic Surgery Matching Program, sponsored by the National Resident Matching Program Specialty Matching Services. All candidates must register through the Specialties Matching Service (SMS).

Applicants considered for an appointment will be invited to interview virtually and/or in person at UConn Health with the program director and selected faculty.
