Larry Klobutcher, Ph.D., Assistant Dean for Research Coordination and Planning and Interim Chair of the Department of Neuroscience, focuses on the renovation of research space and moderating a number of yearly workshops for junior faculty on the promotion and tenure process.

A professor of molecular biology and biophysics, Dr. Klobutcher joined UConn Health in 1984 as assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry. In recent years, he has increasingly moved into the administrative domain, and previously held the position of the associate dean of The Graduate School. Dr. Klobutcher also teaches medical, dental, and graduate students and has been involved with numerous committees over his career, including the Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee, Graduate Programs Committee, and faculty governance committees such as Medical School Council and the Oversight Committee.

Prior to joining UConn Health, Dr. Klobutcher completed his graduate studies in human genetics at Yale University and postdoctoral work in molecular biology at the University of Colorado. His research has focused on genome organization and programmed reorganization in ciliated protozoa, including work on telomeres and transposable elements.
