Family Adversity and Resilience Research Program
Brains and Voices Study
The Brains and Voices Study is all about understanding how kids 4- to 11-years-old and their brains react to emotional sounds and voices, especially if they've been through tough experiences. Some children also visited the Brain Imaging Research Center (BIRC) at the UConn Storrs Campus, where they listened to sentences spoken in different tones of voice while completing an fMRI scan.
As of March 2024, we've already finished signing up families. All families recruited for this study were previous participants in the ARCS study. Now we're looking at all the collected data to learn more.
