Billing & Insurance

UConn John Dempsey Hospital requests that payment be made prior to or at the time of service at the appointment location for any amount not covered by insurance. Insurance deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurances will be considered as deposits and are due at the time of service. The amount due is based on an estimate that may include the facility, professional, or both sets of fees; in addition this may change based on the services provided.

For patients looking for insurance options, Access Health CT is our state’s health insurance marketplace, where individuals and small businesses can shop, compare, and enroll in quality health care plans.

Access Health CT also offers the Covered Connecticut Program. Covered Connecticut is a no-cost health insurance program available to eligible adults and families. The program, administered by the Department of Social Services, was recently updated on July 1, 2022, and now provides no-cost health insurance, including dental care and non-emergency medical transportation benefits, to eligible adults and families within a specific income range.

If you qualify, the State of Connecticut will pay your portion of the monthly payment (premium) directly to your insurance company (Anthem or ConnectiCare). It will also pay for the cost-sharing amounts you would typically have to pay with a health insurance plan, such as deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, and maximum out-of-pocket costs.

  • Profit and loss statements from self-employed patients/guarantors.
