UConn Health is the first medical center in Connecticut designated as a "HEARTSafe Campus" by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health in collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA). Best Maternity Care Hospital
UConn John Dempsey Hospital has been recognized as a Best Maternity are hospital. The distinction recognizes facilities that have provided exceptional care to mothers, newborns, and their families, as verified by the 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Measures include achieving lower rates of C-sections (NTSV), early elective delivery, episiotomy, and assuring bilirubin screening for all newborns and blood clot prevention techniques for mothers delivering via C-section. UConn John Dempsey Hospital is one of fewer than 225 in the nation to receive the prestigious accolade.

UConn John Dempsey Hospital has received the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline® Heart Attack Receiving Center Accreditation. The accreditation program — provided by the American Heart Association — recognizes centers that meet or exceed the quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
