Spine Tumor Program

Spinal tumors can travel (or metastasize) to the spine, originate in or around the spinal cord, or emerge in the vertebrae. When this occurs, patients can develop symptoms such as pain, weakness, numbness, or difficulty with balance. Sometimes the bones can weaken and fracture, leading to neurologic symptoms or a deformity. At UConn Health, an entire team of radiologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons are involved in diagnosing and treating spinal tumors. UConn Health and The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine partner to identify and tailor personalized treatments based on the genetic make-up of each tumor.
