Optum Behavioral Health
Important update on your Optum Behavioral Health benefits for patients who are insured through ConnectiCare, United Healthcare, Oxford Health, and Harvard Pilgrim

Behavioral health services are contracted separately by many health insurance carriers under Optum Behavioral Health. Insurance carriers that utilize Optum Behavioral Health include ConnectiCare, UnitedHealthcare, Oxford Health, and Harvard Pilgrim.
At UConn Health, our priority is providing high-quality care to our patients and community. We want to inform you that we are in ongoing negotiations with Optum Behavioral Health to secure a fair agreement that ensures continued access to care at UConn Health.
If we do not reach an agreement by June 14, 2025, many behavioral health services provided at UConn Health will be considered out-of-network with Optum Behavioral Health.
We’re committed to innovating, expanding, and maintaining financial health. Now, it’s time for behavioral health companies like Optum Behavioral Health to do their part. Join us in encouraging Optum Behavioral Health to agree to a fair contract for both us and the people of Connecticut.
We remain committed to finding a resolution, but also want to ensure you have the information you need to plan for your care in the event that we do not reach an agreement by June 14, 2025.
This negotiation impacts a select number of service locations. Certain behavioral health services are not part of the Optum Behavioral Health termination. Please refer to the FAQ below regarding Behavioral Health services for a complete list of impacted services.
What You Can Do
- Call your health insurance carrier. Using the number on the back of your insurance card, let them know how vital it is to have in-network access to your trusted behavioral care providers at UConn Health.
- Apply for Continuity of Care benefits. You may be eligible to continue receiving behavioral health care services at in-network rates beyond June 14. We urge you to contact your insurance carrier to ask about your options for starting the Continuity of Care process.
