Located in Farmington, CT, UConn Health is part of a beautiful New England setting that offers an excellent quality of life with abundant housing options, recreational opportunities, family activities, restaurants, and shops.

Our training programs are demanding, while respecting the value and necessity of establishing personal balance for individuals and their families. We hope you will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy all that our area has to offer.

Travel

Ideally situated between Boston and New York, getting here is easy. Hartford is only a two-hour drive from Boston and New York City. Bradley International Airport is only 30 minutes away and other airports such as Boston’s Logan International Airport and New York’s airports are also easily accessible. With major highway and rail access, there are options for everyone. The beaches of Cape Cod (beaches) and mountains of New Hampshire, Vermont, and the Adirondacks are all within a three-hour drive.

Housing

Located in central Connecticut, our surround towns and cities provide the opportunity to conveniently live in an urban, suburban, or country setting. You will find neighborhoods for every lifestyle and everything from apartments to stately Victorian homes. Many of our residents and fellows live in surrounding suburban towns like West Hartford and Farmington. Some looking for a more urban setting turn to downtown Hartford. Arts & Entertainment

A wide range of activities such as professional theater, film, museums, and more are easily accessible in our area. Local museums include the Wadsworth AtheneumNew Britain Museum of American Art, and the Hill-Stead Museum right in our backyard. Hartford is home to Hartford Stage, a Tony Award-winning regional theater, and the Bushnell Performing Arts Center which hosts Broadway road shows, the symphony, ballet, and more. Other attractions include the Mark Twain House, the Basketball Hall of Fame, Six Flags, and the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos. For concerts and events, Hartford has the XL Center, Infinity Hall, the Connecticut Convention Center, and the outdoor amphitheater XFinity Theatre. And don’t miss The Big E every September!

Sports & Outdoors

The Hartford area provides many choices for sports fans. The UConn Huskies offer basketball, football, soccer, and more. The Hartford Wolfpack bring professional hockey to the city and the Hartford Yard Goats bring minor league baseball. Each summer, Connecticut is home to professional tennis and the Travelers Championship PGA golf event. Sports fans can even schedule a tour of the ESPN studios!

For outdoor enthusiasts, there are opportunities to canoe and tube on local rivers, hike, cross-country skiing, fishing, and more. A hike up to Heublein Tower is a popular adventure for many who visit the area. Take advantage of excellent golf, tennis, bicycling, and more.

Shopping

For the shopper in you, Westfarms Mall is located minutes from UConn Health. West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square are located nearby too. The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor and The Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton (across the street from UConn Health’s Canton location) are wonderful outdoor shopping options. Located just an hour away are a few different outlets: Clinton Crossing, Tanger Outlet Center, and Lee Prime Outlets.

There are a wide range of cuisines and markets available in our area. Farmington and its surrounding towns offer everything from from standard American fare to french, italian, chinese thai, vietnamese, indian, jamaican, spanish, portuguese, japanese, and more. West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square offer a number of options in a concentrated area.
