Occupational and Environmental Medicine

The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine has had more than two decades of continuous, NIH, NIOSH, CDC, and national foundation funding for laboratory and field research. It is a core component of the Center for the Promotion of Health in the New England Workplace (CPH-NEW), which is now in its tenth year of federal funding as one of four national Total Worker Health (TWH) Centers of Excellence. Areas of extramurally funded research activity include studies of musculoskeletal health in the aging workforce, participatory intervention research with health care and corrections workers, auditory function and speech communications, mining safety and health, and emergency worker protection.
