Education and Training

The Department of Medicine and its faculty are intimately involved in teaching and mentoring medical students through the basic science and clinic portions of the curriculum and sponsors an internal medicine interest group, Scholars in Medicine. The department also sponsors three internal medicine residency programs and 13 fellowships in the subspecialties of medicine. The department is responsible for training nearly 250 residents and fellows each academic year.

The innovative educational programs sponsored by the Department of Medicine serve as a major pipeline for the workforce of primary care physicians and subspecialists in Connecticut. These dedicated physicians are a lasting testament to the Department of Medicine’s steadfast investment in quality educational programs.
