When will I know if UConn received my FAFSA?  The Department of Education has just announced that they will NOT be sending application information to schools until sometime in the first half of March. That means that we will NOT be able to confirm that it was received. However, once you submit it, the date of submission to the Dept. of Ed is the filing date.  We will not be able to start file review until after this information is received by the Department of Education.

What’s the bottom line? If you wish to be considered for Institutional Aid for the 2024/2025 academic year; you must complete The 2024/2025 FAFSA and submit a completed and signed 2024-2025 Institutional Aid Application   with parent financial and household information by the priority filing deadline of February 15, 2024.  You will also need to submit all your, your spouse (if applicable) and your parent(s) signed 2022 federal tax information (including all applicable schedules) and 2022 W-2’s.  If you only wish to be considered for Federal Direct Unsubsidized and/or Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Student Loans; then you only need to complete the 2024/2025 FAFSA.

Please note: The Office of Student Financial Aid Services will NOT be able to confirm all your documents are submitted. The only information we can confirm is if we have the completed institutional aid application. Once we begin file review sometime in March, we will contact you directly if we need anything additional.

Federal Student Loan Repayment Seminar

Even though it’s only January we’re already thinking about graduation and loan repayment. We will be holding three loan repayment seminars this spring, and the first is going to be February 26th at 6PM. Jonathan Chancellor of the AAMC will be in the Low Learning Center delivering a live presentation, reviewing ALL aspects of federal student loan repayment. If you have questions about what repayment plan is right for you, or if you qualify for Public Service Loan Forgiveness or if you can defer loans in residency or if you just don’t know what to do with your federal loans you need to attend this seminar. Please complete the registration link below so we can confirm attendance, and order enough food because a free dinner is provided! We look forward to seeing you there.

2024-2025 Financial Aid

The Department of Education published the 2024-2025 FAFSA on December 31 and it is currently available for students to complete. It is being called a soft open, which means the FAFSA may be down temporarily for maintenance or while other issues are addressed.  If this happens when you are trying to log please try again at a later time.  We do not have any additional information regarding this.

Our brand new, fully electronic institutional aid application is also available.  You can find it linked here. The on-time deadline is still February 15th.  To be considered on-time please submit both a completed 2024-2025 FAFSA and a completed 2024-2025 Institutional Aid Application by the deadline.  Failure to meet this deadline may result in the loss of institutional aid eligibility.  You will also need to submit all your, your spouse (if applicable) and your parent(s) 2022 signed federal tax information (including all applicable schedules) and 2022 W-2’s. We have included a link to our checklist for your convenience. It lists all the required documents necessary for Institutional Aid consideration.

The Department of Education will NOT be sending completed applications to schools until sometime later this month. That means that we will NOT be able to confirm that it was received. However, once you submit it, the date of submission to the Dept. of Ed is the filing date.
