UConn School of Medicine

I was born and raised in Anyang, South Korea, and later moved to Woodbridge, Connecticut. I graduated from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 2020. There, I received a dual degree: I earned a Bachelor of Science in molecular and cell biology, and a Bachelor of Arts in linguistics and philosophy. I also minored in cognitive science and classics and Ancient Mediterranean studies.

I have volunteered at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Veterans Affairs hospital in West Haven, as well as at other institutions in the region. I also have some experience with EMS and some clinical experiences from Connecticut Children’s and Veterans Affairs.

I want to join the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program in order to gain experience working with underserved populations while I participate in helping those in need of healthcare. The experience I gain from the UST/AS Program will allow me to better understand both my future patients and the medical field as a whole. By better understanding healthcare discrepancies across many different settings and regions, I will be able to incorporate this knowledge into my decisions regarding where to practice and how to advocate for patient health equity.
