Stephanie Madlener

Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant

I grew up in Woodbridge, Connecticut and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Neuroscience from Skidmore College in 2014.

My interest in working with medically-underserved populations began in college when I interned with the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General of New York, where I worked on projects aimed at improving health care policy and practices for Medicaid recipients. After graduating, I moved to Baltimore where I worked as a research coordinator and began volunteering with Thread, an organization that helps young adults and students overcome social barriers and whose philosophy emphasizes building relationships as an essential form of support. I worked with a team of volunteers to help a young mother complete school while supporting herself and her family.

My time with Thread and my clinical experience working in urban environments has inspired me to join Urban Service Track in order to become a collaborative, informed provider and patient advocate. The UST will help me better understand the challenges facing the most vulnerable members of our society and the ways we can combat inequalities and make our health care system better serve our communities. I am energized by the opportunity to work alongside individuals who share my goal of improving patient care in underserved communities, and I am excited to put my beliefs into action as I pursue a career as a physician assistant.
