UConn School of Social Work, Class of 2017

I was born and raised in Windsor, Connecticut. I recently graduated from the University of Saint Joseph in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a minor in Biology. I have interned at the East Hartford Housing Authority where I provided multiple services for diverse low-income, disabled, and elderly clients. Also I recently interned at the Marilyn Michaelson Senior Center of Bloomfield where I facilitated groups for the older adults to remain active in the community. I have participated in many trainings/sessions about Medicare, Medicaid and Mental Health to be more knowledgeable about these topics and became certified to help individuals with these issues. I have also volunteered in different outreach projects such as Homeless shelters, Community Health fairs and Operation Christmas Child. In addition, I was the team leader of Women of Wellness, which created programs to educate the students, faculty and staff about various health topics in regards to mental, emotional and physical health to promote a healthy lifestyle.

I want to be involved in the Urban Service Track because I feel like it will prepare me to work with and support my future clients. Healthcare is an important topic, and I want to be able to provide the necessary services and resources to my clients so that they will be able to live a productive life. Also I believe it is essential to know how to work in an interdisciplinary team.
