UConn School of Social Work

I was born and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut. In May 2019, I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in general studies with a minor in human development and family studies from the University of Connecticut. I am currently pursuing my Master of Social Work degree, also at UConn.

Although I grew up in an affluent town, I came from a low-income family; their hard work has been a constant source of inspiration in my mission to serve others, and I now have over 1,200 hours of community service. I am committed to working with children in order to provide them with the resources they need to realize their goals. I have volunteered at Hartford Hospital, as a HuskyMate for international students, as an ESOL tutor, and as a peer mentor for students at a local elementary school. While I am not volunteering or in class, I work as a pharmacy technician for CVS Pharmacy.

The Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars Program will give me the resources and knowledge I need to become an exceptional Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). It offers on-site experience with underserved populations while deepening its participants’ understanding of the challenges faced by these populations. In addition to this combination of practical and theoretical knowledge, the UST/AS Program will teach me how to become an effective, sympathetic health leader in my community. I hope to use these resources to make an impact as many peoples’ lives as possible.
