UConn School of Pharmacy, Class of 2020

I was born and raised in the city of Lynn, Massachusetts. I currently work at an independent pharmacy in Lynnfield, MA. Throughout my UConn career, I have strived to become involved with community service projects offered through various clubs. I have had amazing volunteer events through my participation with the Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists and the pharmacy fraternity Lambda Kappa Sigma.

In January of 2016, I had the opportunity to volunteer for a service trip in Lima, Peru through the organization, Medlife. In Peru, I worked in a mobile clinic that went to the extremely impoverished areas of Lima and offered medical care to those who do not have access to it. At each station, I witnessed how different healthcare professionals impacted these Peruvians’ lives.

I have been interested in UST ever since I heard about it Freshman year, but it was really my experience in Peru that solidified my desire to participate in this program. Through UST I get the chance to help serve the underserved and strengthen interprofessional ties. Along the way I firmly believe this program will help me become not only a stronger pharmacist, but also a better individual. Through my participation in UST, I look forward to learning more about caring for the underserved population and working with interprofessional healthcare teams.
