UConn School of Nursing Class of 2019

I was born in Danbury, Connecticut, raised mostly in Newtown, Connecticut, and am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at UConn.

I have had the privilege of completing an internship at the Connecticut Childbirth and Women’s Center in Danbury, Connecticut, and am currently shadowing healthcare professionals at the same Center. Observing the Certified Nurse Midwives at the Center fostered my passion for primary OB/GYN care. This summer I will be shadowing Registered Nurses at Stamford Hospital to further develop my knowledge of the practice of obstetrics in an urban, underserved area.

I sought involvement in the Urban Service Track as an opportunity to further develop my cultural competencies, to cooperate with other health care students who are passionate about caring for Connecticut’s underserved, and to develop important professional and advocacy skills. This opportunity will enable me to enact positive changes in healthcare at both the patient and state level. I believe that my experiences with UST will help me to become the best nurse I can be for communities currently deprived of effective nursing. My goal is to serve these populations as a Certified Nurse Midwife, providing lower cost primary gynecological and obstetric care, while volunteering my services in clinics and working to lower our high infant mortality rate.
